Fes-Meknes Health Group Commences Operations
On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the Fes-Meknes Territorial Health Group officially announced the commencement of its operational responsibilities as part of a restructuring initiative aimed at managing public health institutions within the region. This significant move is designed to unify, coordinate, and oversee various health facilities, ranging from primary healthcare centers and local institutions to regional hospitals and specialized university medical centers.
The primary objective of this organizational framework is to transition from a fragmented management of healthcare institutions to an integrated regional management system. This new approach will facilitate better resource coordination and distribution according to the needs of the population, ensuring continuity of care across different levels of health services.
This initiative aligns with the implementation of Framework Law No. 06.22 concerning the national health system, as well as Law No. 08.22 which mandates the establishment of territorial health groups. According to this legislation, a public institution must be created in each region to manage and execute health policies at the regional level.
Under this new model, human resources management will also be addressed, encompassing medical, nursing, administrative, and technical staff, alongside training, research, innovation, and administrative management sectors. The goal is to enhance the performance of health institutions and improve the quality of services provided.
The transition to this new system will occur gradually, ensuring the continuity of health services and the normal operation of institutions while making it easier for citizens to access medical care and enhancing the integration of various components of the health services offered in the region.
