Allegations of Exploitation in Fes
In a disturbing incident emerging from Fes, authorities have apprehended a 20-year-old man suspected of extorting a minor female student in the sixth grade by exploiting personal images she had shared with him. The arrest occurred on Thursday as the suspect was on his way to take a driving test. The operation was a collaborative effort between local police and the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance, leading to his detainment at the Fes police headquarters where a judicial investigation was promptly initiated under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
The matter came to light following a complaint lodged by the student’s family, who accused the young man of luring their daughter through social media platforms and misleading her into a relationship, during which he obtained private images. Subsequently, he allegedly used these images to extort and defame her, as detailed in the complaint.
Reports indicate that the victim's family revealed during their interrogation that the suspect had offered the student’s photos for sale on social media for 20 dirhams each, an act they managed to witness on one of the published pages on these platforms. Following the family’s complaint, law enforcement conducted technical investigations and field inquiries that led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, along with the confiscation of his mobile phone.
The mobile device is currently undergoing a digital forensic examination aimed at analyzing the stored data and media to ascertain any relevant information linked to the case, as well as to uncover potential additional victims who may have experienced similar exploitation.
As per the orders of the public prosecutor, the suspect has been placed under provisional detention while the judicial investigation continues, aimed at clarifying the circumstances and details surrounding the case and exploring the possible extent of the alleged actions.
