Fez City Council Greenlights New Health Office Project
In a significant move towards enhancing public health services, the Fez City Council has approved the establishment of a new health office during its extraordinary session held on Tuesday. This initiative aims to bolster health monitoring and preventive services in line with modern standards, addressing the growing urban expansion within the city. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Interior, the Fez-Meknes region, the local health authority, and the Fez municipality, underscoring a united front in improving community health resources.
The total cost of this ambitious health project is set at 30 million Dirhams, with the Ministry of Interior contributing 15 million Dirhams. In addition, the Fez municipality will provide the necessary land for the construction of this vital infrastructure. This initiative is part of the execution of Law No. 113.14 concerning local authorities, particularly Article 110, which emphasizes the need for responsive public services in light of population growth and urbanization in Fez.
The new health office will feature administrative units, a morgue, storage facilities for medications and medical equipment, as well as a center dedicated to combating rabies and other zoonotic diseases. It is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing efforts to control disease vectors and improve forensic medicine services, while also addressing the public health risks associated with stray animals.
Abdel Salam Bqali, the President of the Fez City Council, emphasized that this project holds special priority due to the inadequacy of current facilities to meet the city's health needs. The new establishment will span over 6,000 square meters and will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern morgue and designated areas for rabies vaccination, as well as an advanced platform to facilitate the transportation of deceased individuals.
This project is part of broader efforts to modernize public facilities and elevate the quality of healthcare services provided to the residents of Fez, ensuring that they have access to essential health resources in a rapidly evolving urban environment.
