Financial Support for Fes-Meknes Sports Clubs: A Historic Moment for RSF

Financial Boost for Fes-Meknes Sports Clubs

The elected councils of the Fes-Meknes region have announced an exceptional financial allocation totaling 18 million dirhams (approximately 1.8 million USD) to support the Wydad Fassi Sports Club, celebrating their recent triumph in the national professional football championship, the Inwi League of the first division. This generous funding is a significant gesture aimed at acknowledging the club's remarkable achievement, which marks their first championship win in over forty years.

This pivotal financial announcement was made during a festive event hosted by Khalid Ait Taleb, the governor of Fes-Meknes, held at the Fes Sports Complex. The ceremony saw the participation of officials from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the Professional League, local elected representatives, club managers, and players. Governor Ait Taleb emphasized the historic nature of this victory, highlighting it as a momentous occasion for the spiritual capital of Morocco, resulting from the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved. He also commended the country’s sporting success in organizing the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and its preparations for the 2030 World Cup.

Allocation Breakdown and Community Support

The exceptional financial package is distributed among various councils within the region. The Fes-Meknes Regional Council contributed a substantial 10 million dirhams, as announced by its president, Abdel Wahid Ansari. This amount is in addition to the annual support aimed at developing sports facilities such as the covered arena in Fes and the Hassan II Stadium. Meanwhile, the city council of Fes, led by Abdel Salam Bakkali, declared an exceptional grant of 5 million dirhams, and the Fes Prefectural Council, chaired by Hassan Tazi Chlal, contributed 3 million dirhams to complete the partnership agreement between the council and the club.

In response to this significant backing, the president of the Wydad Fassi Sports Club, Mohamed Bouzoubâa, expressed gratitude towards the authorities and elected councils for their mobilization. He stated that this support would enable the club, which is nearing its 80th anniversary, to continue its upward trajectory both locally and nationally. Bouzoubâa dedicated this prestigious title to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, acknowledging the royal attention given to national sports, and he conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the loyal supporters of Wydad Fassi who have been a significant pillar behind this historic achievement.
