AEFE’s New Director General Visits Morocco on His First Official Trip

In a significant move shortly after his appointment, Alexandre Morois, the newly appointed Director General of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), embarked on his inaugural official trip abroad to Morocco. This visit, which took place less than a week after he assumed his role, underscores Morocco's important position within the global network of French education. With 44 accredited institutions serving nearly 49,000 students, Morocco stands out as one of the most vital and dynamic networks under the AEFE umbrella.

During his visit on June 23, 2026, Morois engaged with school management teams, elected representatives of staff, and parent representatives. The discussions focused on the future perspectives of the educational network and addressed any concerns regarding its evolution. These interactions reflect Morois' commitment to fostering a close dialogue with all stakeholders involved in French education in Morocco, aiming to ground his insights in the realities faced by those who operate within the system daily.

Strategic Educational Committees and Future Directions

This first visit coincided with the annual Strategic Education Steering Committee for Morocco, which was attended by Philippe Lalliot, the French Ambassador to Morocco. The meeting gathered leaders from the network’s establishments to review the previous year’s performance and outline strategic directions for the future. Key areas of focus included teacher training and the promotion of Arabic language education. Morois' itinerary also included visits to several iconic institutions within the network, including Lycée Descartes and Collège Saint-Exupéry in Rabat, and Lycée Français International Jacques Chirac and Lycée Lyautey in Casablanca. Such a visit is emblematic of a commitment to listening, dialogue, and trust, all aimed at fostering a shared ambition: to continue the growth and excellence of the French educational network in Morocco.
