FiveNines Group has officially announced a strategic partnership with Nexus Core Systems to spearhead the development of a state-of-the-art data centre in Morocco, specifically designed to cater to high-density artificial intelligence computing needs. This ambitious project will see the establishment of a 20MW data centre on the periphery of Casablanca, leveraging advanced semiconductor technologies and Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 Cloud Partner Reference architecture to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
In this partnership, FiveNines Group has been entrusted with the critical task of managing a multidisciplinary team focused on various aspects of the project. Their responsibilities will encompass design management, technical governance, consultant coordination, constructability assessments, and the formulation of procurement strategies. Gerry Curran, CEO of FiveNines Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to partner with Nexus Core Systems in order to construct an advanced data centre in North Africa. This project will bring together our international data centre expertise with Moroccan architects, engineers, technical advisers, and relevant authorities, further demonstrating our capability to undertake critical infrastructure projects of the highest standard alongside global industry leaders.”
The initial phases of the project will involve extensive coordination from FiveNines Group, which will manage the briefing, feasibility studies, design strategies, and concept designs necessary to develop a cohesive design package. This package will be crucial for engaging with authorities and submitting the necessary permits. Bastian Remmlinger, Head of Infrastructure at Nexus Core Systems, commended FiveNines Group for their support, saying, “We are very pleased with the cooperation and services FiveNines Group has provided so far. Their team has supported us well as we shape the design and delivery approach for the Morocco data centre. We look forward to continuing our work together on this ambitious project.”
Moreover, the FiveNines Group will collaborate closely with several key partners, including the lead design consultant Zutari, specialist MEP consultant R&B MEP, and substation delivery partner Fonto Energy. This collaborative effort is part of the broader Nexus AI Factory Platform, which Nexus Core Systems and its international partners aim to deliver. This platform is envisioned as an advanced infrastructure hub dedicated to artificial intelligence, targeting a total capacity of 180MW powered entirely by renewable energy sources.
The announcement of the Nexus AI Factory took place during the GITEX Africa event in Marrakesh in April 2026, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Moroccan authorities. This project marks a significant milestone in Morocco’s quest to establish itself as a regional center of excellence in artificial intelligence.
FiveNines Group's involvement in this project aligns with its global expansion strategy, which includes active engagements in various international locations, such as northern and central Europe. Recently, the UK-based company also completed a 9.6MW data centre for a hyperscale client in Austria. Gerry Curran emphasized the company's expertise, stating, “Our team members have wide experience in designing and delivering data centres and other mission-critical construction projects to tight deadlines and the highest technical specifications, with a strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, and compliance.”
FiveNines Group, formed through a management buyout led by Gerry Curran, boasts over 30 years of experience in delivering complex, mission-critical projects across engineering, infrastructure, and construction sectors. The board includes notable figures such as Ramnik Kapur as CFO, along with seasoned professionals like Kelly Wakeman and Ian Hudson, and tech entrepreneur Michael Tobin CBE, who was formerly the CEO of Telecity Group.
