Transforming the Future of AI Infrastructure in Morocco

In a landmark development for the artificial intelligence sector, British company FiveNines has announced its collaboration with Nexus Core Systems to establish a cutting-edge data center on the outskirts of Casablanca. This ambitious project is set to feature a 20 MW facility dedicated to high-density AI computations, leveraging the latest advancements in semiconductor technology and the innovative Vera Rubin NVL72 Cloud Partner architecture from Nvidia. As the initial design phase commences, this data center is poised to play a pivotal role in Morocco's aspirations to become a regional hub for AI technology.

The Nexus AI Factory, which was introduced at GITEX Africa Morocco in April 2026, is designed to accommodate a total capacity of 180 MW entirely powered by renewable energy sources. This initiative not only demonstrates a commitment to sustainability but also aligns with Morocco's strategic vision for harnessing artificial intelligence to drive economic growth and technological advancement. FiveNines will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for overseeing design management, technical standards, consultant coordination, construction planning, and procurement strategy. The initial activities will include defining project requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and developing a comprehensive design framework to facilitate discussions with local authorities and secure necessary permits.

Collaboration is at the heart of this project, with FiveNines working closely alongside principal design consultant Zutari, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing specialist R&B MEP, and Fonto Energy, which will oversee the construction of the substation. Gerry Curran, CEO of FiveNines, emphasized the importance of combining international expertise with local knowledge, stating, "This project will bring together our global data center expertise with Moroccan architects, engineers, technical advisors, and regulatory authorities." This partnership reflects a concerted effort to elevate Morocco's position in the global AI landscape and enhance its technological capabilities.
