In response to the evolving landscape of international trade, characterized increasingly by the weight of tariffs and the pressing need to manage fixed costs, Fluidra, a prominent manufacturer in the swimming pool industry, has embarked on a significant reorganization of its industrial footprint. This strategic move includes the closure of three production facilities located in China and France, while simultaneously establishing a new plant in Tangier, Morocco. Jaime Ramírez, the CEO of Fluidra, has previously indicated during an analysts' meeting that the new facility in Morocco is expected to commence product distribution by the third quarter of this year. This new plant is set to replace one of the three existing factories in China, which will soon be shuttered. According to company sources, the decision to relocate production to Morocco is driven by strategic advantages, including favorable cost structures, proximity to key markets in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, as well as improved supply chain flexibility. Notably, Morocco has emerged as a significant beneficiary of the United States' tariff policy, enjoying lower rates compared to other neighboring countries, the European Union, and China.
