Forest Fires: A Severe Warning for Multiple Regions in Fès-Meknès

Critical Alert Issued for Forest Fire Risks in Fès-Meknès Region

Based on scientific data, the National Agency for Water and Forests has updated its predictive maps, accurately identifying sensitive areas at heightened risk of forest fires from July 6 to July 12, 2026. This proactive measure aims to tackle the looming threat of wildfires on a national scale.

Through a thorough analysis of various factors, including the type of forest cover, its flammability, along with climate forecasts and the topographical conditions of the regions, the agency has classified the risk level as extreme in the provinces of Ifrane, Taza, and Tounate. In the city of Fès, the risk is categorized as high, while a moderate risk has been assigned to the provinces of Meknes, Hajeb, Boulemane, and Sefrou.

The National Agency for Water and Forests urges residents living near forested areas, as well as workers, vacationers, and visitors, to exercise extreme caution and avoid any activities that could potentially ignite a fire. Furthermore, they are encouraged to promptly report any sightings of smoke or suspicious behavior to local authorities.
