French-Algerian National Faces Drug and Violence Charges in Marrakech Court

The Marrakech Court of First Instance has ordered the detention of a French national of Algerian descent in the local prison of Al-Oudaya, along with a second defendant. This decision comes in the wake of their prosecution in a misdemeanor case that includes serious charges related to violence and drug offenses. The court has scheduled the first hearing for June 1, 2026, marking the commencement of the trial.

This ruling follows the presentation of the defendants to the competent public prosecutor, who decided to pursue their case while in custody and referred them to a judicial panel for consideration of the alleged actions attributed to them. According to available information, the main defendant, identified as (W.F.), faces charges including assault with a weapon, involvement in a brawl that resulted in injury, and participation in international drug trafficking. These serious offenses are expected to undergo judicial scrutiny during the upcoming trial sessions.

The second defendant, known as (M.A.), is charged with providing alcoholic beverages to Muslim Moroccans, facilitating drug use for others, and attempting to bribe, based on the legal classification established by the public prosecutor. During the next session, the judicial panel is anticipated to focus on examining the details of the case and listening to the pleas of the parties involved before commencing discussions on the facts and rendering a decision in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

It is important to note that both defendants are presumed innocent, as the charges against them are still under judicial consideration until a final verdict is reached, which will have the force of res judicata.
