Disturbing Details Emerge from FlyDubai Incident Investigation

Recent investigations into a grave incident involving a FlyDubai flight to Tel Aviv have unveiled a shocking plan by co-pilot Hemam Al-Hamami, who allegedly intended to crash the aircraft into the passenger terminal at Ben Gurion Airport. The United Arab Emirates' Attorney General, Dr. Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, announced these alarming findings, revealing that the co-pilot aimed to inflict maximum casualties during the planned attack.

On the day of the incident, the suspect reportedly launched an assault on the pilot using an emergency axe inside the cockpit. The pilot, scheduled to command the return flight, noticed unusual behavior at the cockpit door, prompting him to investigate. Using a security code, he successfully gained entry, where he, along with a crew member and several passengers, intervened to subdue the attacker and bring the injured pilot to safety.

According to the UAE Attorney General, the suspect's radicalization began in 2017 while he was studying in Australia. He was exposed to extremist content glorifying terrorist organizations and suicide attacks, leading to an obsession with the September 11 attacks. To prepare for his plan, he consumed provocative material and engaged in boxing training.

Furthermore, it has come to light that the suspect utilized two prior trips to Tel Aviv to familiarize himself with the flight path and the airport, ultimately attempting to execute his plan on the third visit. Previously, he worked with Oman Air and Royal Air Maroc, before joining FlyDubai in January 2026. The prosecution affirmed that he met all professional and security requirements upon hiring, with no initial indicators of his malicious intentions detected at that time.

The accused has confessed to both the actions and the planning of the attack, claiming that he acted alone. However, the public prosecutor in the UAE is continuing to investigate potential accomplices and other connections, while analyzing recordings and technical reports.
