Strengthening Gabon's Aviation Sector
The Gabonese delegation for national aeronautical activities convened yesterday for its 45th management committee session at the Léon-Mba International Airport in Libreville. This crucial meeting focused on assessing the financial and operational management of the aviation sector, while establishing priorities aimed at fortifying air navigation safety and enhancing the performance of aeronautical services.
During the session, committee members scrutinized the financial statements for the fiscal year 2025, evaluated the mid-year budget execution level, monitored the resolutions passed during the previous session, and reviewed the status of the balancing subsidy. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Anatole Kabounou Onkoni, acknowledged that this subsidy had not been mobilized in 2025. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence in its release for 2026 to support priority projects within the sector.
Investments and New Leadership
The discussions also encompassed the necessary investments required to enhance infrastructure and bolster air navigation safety. The primary goal is to ensure that services align with international standards while facilitating the development of air transport in Gabon. Joachim Tchissambou M'Boudou, the chief of staff to the Director General of ASECNA, emphasized the critical importance of adhering to contractual commitments to provide aeronautical services that are "safe, regular, efficient, and compliant with international norms." This 45th session was also notable for the appointment of Nadine Nathalie Awanang-Anato as the delegate of the Director General of ASECNA for national aeronautical activities in Gabon. She succeeds Brice Thierry Arist Soki, who served as acting delegate.
