German-Kosovar Arrested at Casablanca Airport for Drug Trafficking and Arson

International Arrest of a German-Kosovar National in Morocco

On Saturday, July 11, authorities at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca apprehended a 35-year-old German national of Kosovar descent. This individual was subject to an international arrest warrant issued by German judicial authorities, owing to suspicions regarding his involvement in drug trafficking and arson.

The arrest took place immediately upon his arrival at the airport aboard a flight. A thorough verification of his identity through the Interpol database revealed that he was indeed wanted internationally, based on a request from the National Central Bureau in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Initial reports indicate that the suspect is linked to a file concerning the international smuggling of a shipment of cannabis resin, along with suspicions of his deliberate involvement in setting a vehicle on fire as part of a criminal dispute.

Following his arrest, the individual was subjected to judicial extradition procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office. Concurrently, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, which operates under the General Directorate of National Security, initiated the process to notify their German counterparts about the arrest.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Moroccan security services to bolster international cooperation in the field of security and to activate mechanisms for the search and apprehension of individuals wanted internationally for crimes related to transnational organized crime.
