Gims Faces Serious Allegations in Money Laundering Investigation
The renowned rapper Gims, whose real name is Gandhi Djuna, has found himself in a troubling situation as he was taken into police custody on March 25, 2023, in connection with an organized money laundering investigation. This inquiry reportedly revolves around suspected overseas real estate investments, particularly a luxurious project that Gims has promoted in Marrakech. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the involvement of the National Anti-Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office (Pnaco), which confirmed the developments to the French newspaper Ouest-France.
Gims is currently being questioned under a judicial commission issued by specialized judges from the Paris judicial court, and his custody, which can last up to 48 hours, has already been extended as of March 26, according to sources from La Provence. This investigation is not just a local concern; it is being closely monitored by the National Anti-Fraud Office (ONAF), which seeks to uncover fraudulent activities and scams that have significant implications.
Luxury Real Estate Project Under Scrutiny
The investigation is focusing on a network of companies allegedly established in various countries to exploit tax loopholes and facilitate the issuance of false invoices, all while laundering funds derived from illegal activities. One of the key elements of this case is a high-end real estate development known as "Sunset Village Private Residence," which Gims inaugurated with much fanfare in 2025. This project, featuring 118 luxury villas, sports facilities, a spa, and a lagoon spanning 3,000 square meters, has attracted attention not only for its lavishness but also for the alleged financial misconduct associated with it.
Gims was reportedly detained by the National Judicial Customs Service upon his arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport. Sources indicate that five former drug traffickers from the Île-de-France region, who have since transitioned to financial crimes, may also be implicated in this case. As of now, Gims's attorney, Me David-Olivier Kaminski, has not provided any comments regarding the ongoing investigation, leaving many questions unanswered about the rapper's future and the potential implications of these serious allegations.
