Construction of ENCG Guelmim: A New Educational Milestone
The Ibn Zohr University has initiated the construction of the ENCG (National School of Commerce and Management) in Guelmim with an allocated budget of 52.78 million dirhams. This substantial investment is aimed at enhancing the educational landscape within the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, particularly through the expansion of the new campus located in Abaynou, which spans over five hectares. The project promises a cutting-edge educational infrastructure, encompassing a total area of 4,579 square meters, featuring two lecture halls and 26 specialized classrooms. Importantly, the design phase emphasizes strict adherence to environmental and technical considerations pertinent to the area, ensuring that the new facility aligns with sustainable practices.
The introduction of the ENCG will significantly bolster the educational offerings in Guelmim-Oued Noun and is part of a broader initiative by Ibn Zohr University to improve higher education in the region. This development coincides with an architectural competition for the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEGG), which is also being launched with a budget of approximately 59.60 million dirhams. The aim of these projects is to diversify educational opportunities and mitigate the trend of students migrating to larger cities for their studies.
Enhanced Facilities and Environmental Considerations
From a financial and administrative perspective, Ibn Zohr University has earmarked a projected budget of 52.78 million dirhams for the construction works. In a bid to encourage architectural excellence, five awards will be granted to the top-ranked project proposals. The new ENCG facility is strategically located along the National Route N1, just outside Guelmim, heading towards Agadir. It will occupy a dedicated land area of approximately five hectares, contributing to a larger university campus that spans 44.5 hectares, which has already undergone preliminary technical studies.
The architectural design includes a well-thought-out spatial organization, with the educational block serving as the heart of the facility, covering a total area of 4,579.20 square meters. The capacity is carefully planned, featuring two auditoriums (one with 400 seats and another with 250 seats), ten classrooms each accommodating 120 students, and 16 tutorial rooms for 80 students each. Furthermore, the program incorporates specialized areas such as four computer labs for 32 students each, four language labs for 40 students each, and a financial markets room designed for stock market simulations.
The administrative block is set to cover an area of 873.60 square meters, featuring a reception hall, administrative offices, and a meeting room. Additionally, a dedicated area for faculty members will occupy 957.60 square meters, providing offices for department heads, teaching staff, and research laboratories totaling 120 square meters. The facility will also include a resource center and a library equipped with reading rooms and digital resources. Outdoor amenities will feature a multi-sport field, locker rooms, and ample parking spaces, all while adhering to stringent environmental guidelines due to the seismic classification of the area and the semi-arid climate of Guelmim.
