Guinea National Team Announces Five New Players Ahead of March Friendlies in Morocco

Revitalizing the Syli National: New Faces Join the Squad

In a bid to rejuvenate the Guinea national football team, known as Syli National, head coach Paulo Duarte has unveiled a squad of 25 players for upcoming friendly matches scheduled in Morocco. These matches will see Guinea face Togo on March 27 in Rabat and Benin on March 31 in Casablanca. This latest squad announcement is notable for the inclusion of several fresh talents alongside some familiar names returning to the fold.

Introducing Fresh Talent and Notable Returns

Among the five new players included in the squad are promising talents such as Mansour Camara, a defender currently playing for Al-Kholood in Saudi Arabia, and Mohamed Touré, a striker from Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic. Another noteworthy addition is Abdoulaye Camara, who is currently plying his trade in Denmark with Vejle. Perhaps the most surprising inclusion is Mohamed Kaba, a 24-year-old defensive midfielder from FC Nantes, who is stepping into the national team for the first time. Kaba, who has been making an impact since joining Nantes on loan in January, has contributed one assist in six appearances for the club, and his selection marks a significant moment in his burgeoning career as he joins the team under the guidance of Vahid Halilhodzic.

Additionally, Lamine Diaby-Fadiga, a former French U18 international who has recently become eligible to represent Guinea, is also part of this revamped squad. Returning to the national team are Yakhouba Gnagna Barry, a local striker from Horoya AC, and Ilaix Moriba, who is back after nearly two years away from international duty. Saïdou Sow, who has struggled with injuries recently, also makes a return.

Despite these changes, Paulo Duarte has retained key players who form the backbone of the Syli National, including seasoned professionals like Issiaga Sylla and star forward Serhou Guirassy. However, the squad will be missing some notable absentees due to injuries, including Mouctar Diakhaby and Aguibou Camara, while experienced midfielder Mady Camara is also not included in this lineup.

Through these adjustments, Paulo Duarte aims to strike a balance between established players and new recruits, laying the groundwork for the team’s future as they prepare for imminent international competitions.
