In light of the rapid transformation of technology and the evolving funding models within the non-profit sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are compelled to rethink their tools and methodologies. On April 10th in Casablanca, coinciding with GITEX Africa, the event titled 'AI FOR IMPACT 2026,' organized by EPIK Leaders in partnership with the Moroccan School of Engineering Sciences (EMSI) at the heart of the Honoris United Universities campus, will gather NGOs, public institutions, funding bodies, technology companies, impact startups, researchers, and media to explore the practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the non-profit sector.
The primary aim of this event is to examine how AI can enhance the effectiveness, transparency, and operational capacity of civil society organizations, particularly as social needs escalate and funding models become increasingly complex.
AI as a Strategic Lever for NGOs
Globally, non-profit organizations are facing mounting challenges, including a surge in project calls, heightened reporting demands, increased competition for international funding, and the necessity to demonstrate their impact effectively. Artificial intelligence presents new opportunities to address these challenges.
"AI can become a powerful lever to strengthen the impact of civil society organizations. However, many NGOs still lack access to the necessary tools and skills. The 'AI FOR IMPACT' event aims to bridge the gap between technology actors, institutions, and associations to transform this potential into concrete solutions that serve the public interest," explains Dr. Nizar Chaari, founder of EPIK Leaders.
Introducing NOVAI: An AI Platform for NGO Funding
Among the initiatives showcased during the event is NOVAI – the Network of Opportunities for Value, Aid, and Innovation, a Dubai-based platform that utilizes artificial intelligence to assist NGOs and social enterprises in more efficiently accessing international funding.
“NOVAI was born out of a simple belief: no impactful idea should remain unfunded due to limited access to information, tools, or expertise. By combining artificial intelligence, human expertise, and a reliable marketplace of specialists, we help NGOs and social enterprises identify funding opportunities, strengthen their proposals, and amplify their impact,” adds Feryal El Moghraby, Founder of NOVAI.
The AI FOR IMPACT 2026 program will revolve around several key highlights, aiming to foster new collaborations among public actors, technology companies, and non-profit organizations.
Beyond mere networking, 'AI FOR IMPACT 2026' is set to produce tangible deliverables designed to support civil society organizations, built upon three core principles that will guide the discussions and outcomes of the event.
