Anticipated Heat Wave Across Various Regions in Morocco
The Moroccan meteorological authorities have issued a warning regarding an impending heat wave that is expected to sweep through several provinces, including Oued Ed-Dahab, Smara, Errachidia, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, and Oussard. The heat is projected to peak between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow, September 3 and 4, 2026. This alarming forecast was shared in an orange alert bulletin by the General Directorate of Meteorology, highlighting the severity of the weather conditions.
In addition to the scorching temperatures, the bulletin also indicates that regions such as Youssoufia, Rabat, Salé, Khénifra, Taroudant, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, and Sidi Bennour can expect temperatures ranging from 38 to 42 degrees Celsius. The public is advised to take necessary precautions during this extreme heat.
Thunderstorms and Rainfall Expected in Southern Regions
On another note, the meteorological service has forecasted that the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab and Oussard will experience thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusty winds starting from 3 PM today until 6 AM tomorrow. The rainfall is anticipated to range between 20 to 40 millimeters, contributing to the weather fluctuations in the southern region of the country. Furthermore, similar conditions are expected in the provinces of Marrakech, Qalaa des Sraghna, Al Haouz, Azilal, Chichaoua, and the Rahamna region, with thunderstorms generating rainfall between 15 to 25 millimeters from 2 PM until 11 PM today.
This combination of high temperatures and sudden thunderstorms underscores the need for residents to stay updated on weather developments and to remain cautious during this unpredictable weather pattern.
