Severe Weather Alert in Morocco
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an impending heat wave accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds, beginning today, Wednesday, and continuing until Friday across various regions of the kingdom. The meteorological department, in its orange-level alert, has indicated that temperatures are expected to soar between 42°C and 45°C in several provinces, including Kenitra, Ouarzazate, Laayoune, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Smara, Tata, Errachidia, Zagora, Marrakech, Rhamna, Sidi Slimane, Khémisset, Ouazzane, Larache, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fez, Sidi Kacem, Meknes, Fkih Ben Salah, Qalaat es-Sraghna, and Beni Mellal.
Furthermore, temperatures are anticipated to range from 38°C to 42°C in the provinces of Settat, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Taroudant, Khouribga, Khenifra, Chichaoua, and Sale. The Directorate also noted that thunderstorms are expected to bring rainfall measuring between 25 and 40 mm, accompanied by hail and strong winds in the Ouarzazate region, starting today at 2 PM and lasting until Thursday at 2 AM.
