Severe Heatwave Expected Across Morocco
The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an impending heatwave that began on Sunday, August 2, and is expected to persist until Tuesday, August 4. This alert, classified as orange-level vigilance, forecasts exceptionally high temperatures across various regions of the country.
According to the meteorological agency, temperatures are anticipated to reach between 45°C and 47°C in several provinces, including Oued Ed-Dahab, Assa-Zag, Smara, Tata, Taroudant, Zagora, Errachidia, Oussred, and Boujdour. Such extreme heat conditions are not only uncomfortable but can also pose health risks to the population.
In addition to these extreme readings, regions such as Marrakech, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, and Qalaat Sraghna can expect temperatures between 42°C and 45°C. Other areas, including Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Rhamna, Youssoufia, Khénifra, Taourirt, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Jerada, Taza, Laâyoune, Tarfaya, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan, will also see temperatures soaring between 42°C and 45°C today.
Furthermore, the forecast indicates that temperatures will range from 39°C to 42°C in regions like Sidi Bennour, Chichaoua, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Essaouira, Driouch, Nador, Oujda Angad, and Safi. Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures to cope with the rising temperatures and to stay hydrated.
