Severe Heat Expected Across Multiple Regions
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an anticipated heatwave affecting various regions of Morocco, with temperatures expected to soar between 38 and 45 degrees Celsius. This extreme weather event is forecasted to commence today, Wednesday, and persist until Friday. The alert has been classified as ‘Orange’ level, indicating a significant risk associated with rising temperatures.
According to the meteorological report, the hottest temperatures will be experienced in provinces such as Kenitra, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Smara, Tata, Errachidia, Zagora, Marrakech, Rhamna, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, Wazan, Larache, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fez, Sidi Kacem, Meknes, Fkih Ben Salah, Qalaat Sraghna, and Beni Mellal, where temperatures are expected to range from 42 to 45 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, other regions including Settat, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Taroudant, Khouribga, Khenifra, Chichaoua, and Sale will experience slightly lower temperatures, ranging between 38 and 42 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the heat, the report also predicts thunderstorms with potential rainfall ranging from 25 to 40 millimeters in the Oued Ed-Dahab region. This severe weather is anticipated to include hail and gusty winds, starting from 2 PM today until 2 AM tomorrow. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions to ensure their safety during this heatwave.
