The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an impending heatwave that is set to affect a number of provinces in Morocco. This heatwave is expected to bring temperatures ranging from 37°C to 42°C in regions including Kenitra, Meknes, Fes, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Sidi Kacem, Khémisset, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Khénifra, Settat, Youssoufia, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rhamna, Beni Mellal, Chichaoua, and Taroudant. The forecast indicates that these extreme temperatures will take place from Wednesday, May 20, 2026, until Friday, May 22, 2026.
Moreover, the Meteorological Directorate has highlighted that the heat will also affect areas such as Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, Al Hoceima, Ben Slimane, Nouacer, Berrechid, Essaouira, Safi, Sidi Ben Nour, Chichaoua Ait Baha, Guelmim, Inzegane Ait Melloul, Tiznit, with temperatures expected to range between 34°C and 38°C. This situation will persist from Wednesday, May 20, 2026, to Thursday, May 21, 2026. The authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions such as avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, increasing water intake, and staying updated with official weather reports.
