Severe Weather Advisory: Heatwave and Thunderstorms Forecasted
The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a weather alert indicating that a significant heatwave, characterized by high temperatures and thunderstorms, is expected to affect numerous provinces in the Kingdom from Saturday to Tuesday. According to the DGM's warning, temperatures are expected to rise between 39 to 42 degrees Celsius in provinces including Taza, Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, and Taounate over the weekend.
Furthermore, the heatwave will intensify, with temperatures predicted to reach between 39 to 44 degrees Celsius from Saturday through Tuesday in provinces such as Errachidia, Jerada, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, Guercif, Boulemane, Assa-Zag, and Es-Semara. Residents in these areas should prepare for extreme heat conditions and take necessary precautions.
In addition to the heatwave, thunderstorms are anticipated to bring heavy rain, with potential hail and strong winds expected under storm conditions. Rainfall amounts could reach between 20 to 30 millimeters, particularly affecting provinces like Khénifra, El Hajeb, Ifrane, and Sefrou on Saturday from 2 PM to 11 PM. The DGM advises residents to stay informed and take safety measures during this period of severe weather.
