Higher Education Union in Fes Outraged by Dean's Treatment of Law Professor

Concerns Raised Over Administrative Practices in Fes University

The local office of the National Union of Higher Education at the Faculty of Law in Fes has expressed significant outrage regarding the treatment of a female professor by the Dean of the faculty. This concern has prompted the union to demand an urgent administrative investigation by the Ministry of Higher Education and the University of Fes. The union's statement highlights what it describes as "irregularities and abuses" occurring within the faculty, insisting that responsibilities be assigned based on the findings of the investigation. The union is adamantly standing in solidarity with the affected professor.

According to a detailed complaint received from the professor, the Dean allegedly treated her with selectivity and threatened her with disciplinary action. Notably, he demanded a death certificate for her mother three months after her passing, a request that the union characterized as a violation of her professional and human dignity. The union noted that the Dean also questioned the legitimacy of her mother’s death, further exacerbating the professor's distress during an already challenging time.

Moreover, the union expressed its dismay at the Dean's remarks regarding the professor's health during the examination period, despite her having submitted a medical file. Alarmingly, the Dean reportedly disclosed her personal health information to colleagues, which should remain confidential. This behavior raises profound questions about the alignment of certain administrative practices with the human and ethical values that should guide actions within a university setting.

The National Union of Higher Education firmly stated that it will not tolerate the transformation of the university into a space of intimidation, oppression, or selectivity. They underscored the seriousness of this issue, which reflects a significant deviation from the intended role of administrative authority, suggesting that it has shifted from serving the institution and protecting its members to becoming a source of tension and conflict.
