Moroccan Diaspora's Contribution to National Development

On Monday, August 10, 2026, a significant event took place in Casablanca that underscored the vital role played by the Moroccan diaspora in supporting the strategic and developmental initiatives launched by Morocco, with a vision for 2030. This communication meeting was organized by the Ain Chock district authority as part of the National Day for Moroccans Living Abroad. The event, chaired by district governor Bouchra Baradi under the theme 'Moroccans Living Abroad in Service of Morocco's 2030 Projects,' saw participation from members of the Moroccan community abroad, elected officials, representatives of administrative and security services, professional chambers, the private sector, and civil society organizations.

During her address, Governor Baradi highlighted that the Moroccan diaspora, enriched with exceptional scientific, professional, and economic expertise, represents a strategic asset for supporting the country’s development dynamics and enhancing Morocco’s regional and international visibility. She emphasized that the strategic and developmental projects anticipated by the Kingdom for 2030 present new avenues for mobilizing the skills of the Moroccan diaspora more effectively, particularly in the fields of investment, infrastructure, digital transformation, energy transition, scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development.

In this context, Baradi called on various concerned entities to strengthen communication and support mechanisms for Moroccans living abroad, as well as to intensify cultural, economic, and scientific activities that allow for better understanding of their expectations and encourage their engagement in national development projects. She also reminded attendees that the district authority is working in coordination with various relevant departments and security services to monitor issues affecting Moroccans abroad, aiming to facilitate their residency and address their concerns under the best possible conditions.

This meeting served as a platform for discussion between Moroccan expatriates and representatives from various administrative bodies, where attendees expressed their eagerness to contribute effectively to the strategic and developmental projects underway in the Kingdom. They also discussed some of the challenges they face and offered suggestions to address certain issues. In this regard, local authorities reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing various pertinent services to respond to the aspirations of Moroccans living abroad, urging the maintenance of continuous communication with them and ongoing efforts to simplify administrative processes related to this community.

Alongside this meeting, a series of booths were organized by institutions and technical services, which showcased the services and facilities available to members of the diaspora.
