Hikrar: Government Hinders Work of Committee Evaluating Green Morocco Plan

Government's Stance on the Green Morocco Plan Evaluation

On July 6, 2026, during a session of the House of Representatives, Abdeslam Hikrar, a member of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), expressed strong concerns regarding the government’s obstruction of the committee tasked with evaluating the Green Morocco Plan. Hikrar highlighted the government's refusal to provide essential data on two critical subjects: red meat and the financial aspects of the plan, which he argues are indispensable for a proper assessment.

Hikrar noted that the committee had previously scheduled a meeting with government officials to address these issues, but this meeting was postponed and has yet to be rescheduled. He lamented that despite completing a comprehensive exploratory report on summer camps in early 2023, which includes serious findings, this report has not been discussed or scheduled for presentation, leaving many questions unanswered.

Furthermore, Hikrar emphasized the constitutional requirements mandating the Prime Minister's attendance at monthly sessions of the House of Representatives, especially when questions are prepared and ready for discussion. However, he pointed out that the Prime Minister had only attended one session during the Spring session, opting to address a self-selected question while neglecting other critical matters that had been previously agreed upon.
