The international match journey has concluded for the majority of HSV’s national players, with Otto Stange and Louis Lemke returning to Hamburg and immediately donning their club colors once again. However, one player continues to represent his national team abroad. The swift transition back to club life was evident for Stange and Lemke, who had been on international duty with the DFB youth teams. They returned to Hamburg on the morning of October 4th and went directly from the airport to the Grand Elysee team hotel. From there, they joined the HSV squad for a friendly match against FC Copenhagen at the Volksparkstadion. Upon entering the match, Stange played for 70 minutes, while Lemke contributed for 13 minutes in the team's 2-0 victory. Just a day prior, both were sporting the DFB jersey, having started for their respective national teams; Stange played 56 minutes in a 1-2 loss against England with the U20 team, while Lemke was on the pitch for 80 minutes in a 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic with the U19 team.

On the day of the friendly against Copenhagen, three other HSV players were still active with their national teams. Zakaria El Ouahdi made a ten-minute appearance for Morocco in a test match against Mali, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Warmed Omari played the full 90 minutes for the Comoros in a 0-1 loss to Senegal, marking his third consecutive match in which he played the entire game. Additionally, David Möller Wolfe participated for the full duration in Norway's Nations League match against Portugal, which ended 1-2. This came after Wolfe returned to action following a suspension due to a yellow-red card, playing against Wales on October 1st, where Norway secured a 2-1 victory. Meanwhile, Sander Tangvik remained as a backup goalkeeper, sitting on the bench for these encounters.

All four players are expected to be back in Hamburg by Tuesday, October 6th. The HSV squad will commence their training week at 3 PM in preparation for their away match against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, October 10th, with kickoff set for 3:30 PM. Notably absent from that lineup will be Immanuel Pherai, who is still engaged in international duty with the Surinamese national team. In the early hours of Tuesday, Suriname will face Guatemala in the CONCACAF Nations League. This matchup follows their previous encounter on Friday evening, which ended in a goalless draw, where Pherai contributed for 21 minutes. His upcoming match will mark the conclusion of the international break from HSV's perspective.

Throughout this international period, the performance of HSV’s national players has been largely positive, although the highs and lows of football are closely intertwined. The Norwegian national team, featuring David Möller Wolfe and Sander Tangvik, faced Denmark in the UEFA Nations League, but the night did not unfold as favorably as hoped from HSV's perspective. Despite the challenges, the overall sentiment remains optimistic as players return to their club commitments.
