Idris Ablahad Takes the Lead in Northern Fes Elections
In a significant development for the upcoming legislative elections, a reliable source within the Constitutional Union Party has confirmed that Idris Ablahad has been officially nominated as the party's candidate for the Northern Fes electoral district. This announcement comes amidst widespread speculation regarding the candidacy of both Mohamed Belhiyani and Idris Ablahad, who is the regional secretary of the General Confederation of Moroccan Workers. The party, led by Mohamed Joudar, has clarified that while Belhiyani sought a legal endorsement to participate in the elections, he has not been granted the official party endorsement required for candidacy.
The discussions surrounding the potential candidacies have sparked considerable debate, especially with the formal deadline for submitting nominations to the Ministry of Interior approaching next Monday. According to the party source, the General Secretariat of the Constitutional Union did not issue the necessary documentation for Belhiyani to contest on the party's behalf in the Northern Fes district. Instead, he was provided with a memorandum to assist him in simulating the electronic nomination process at the provincial headquarters.
Following this, the party's endorsement committee convened to assess various applications from individuals interested in representing the Constitutional Union in the upcoming elections. The committee's evaluation led to the formal endorsement of Idris Ablahad as the party's candidate for the Northern Fes electoral district, a decision made in the presence of the local party coordinator.
Idris Ablahad has publicly confirmed his resignation from the Independence Party, where he was a member of its National Council and a representative in the Fes-Meknes Regional Council. Despite this change, he continues to be an active member of the General Confederation of Moroccan Workers, where he serves as the regional secretary for Fes. It is important to note that the labor union has yet to establish a new executive board following the election of Youssef Alakouch as the new secretary-general at the end of April.
