Idris Lachkar Endorses Rashid Belbouch for Parliamentary Candidacy
In a significant shift within the political landscape of the Fes region, Idris Lachkar, the First Secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), has made the strategic decision to endorse Rashid Belbouch as the party's candidate for the upcoming legislative elections. This endorsement comes as a replacement for the previously recognized candidate, Khadouj Salasi, who has reportedly opted to withdraw from the race. According to sources, Salasi expressed her desire not to participate in the forthcoming elections, creating an opportunity for Belbouch, a well-known accountant in Fes, to step in and represent the party.
Rashid Belbouch is no stranger to the electoral arena, having previously run for a parliamentary seat in the same constituency under the Popular Movement banner, where he secured a respectable third place with over 3,000 votes. This was a commendable performance, especially considering the competition he faced from prominent candidates like Mohamed Khiyé from the Justice and Development Party and Khalid Al-Ajli from the National Rally of Independents, the latter of whom ultimately won the seat. With this move, the USFP aims to rejuvenate its campaign in the southern district of Fes, presenting a fresh face to the electorate, as Belbouch prepares to carry the party's banner in the upcoming elections.
