The imminent launch of the regional health groups in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra areas, scheduled for August 1st, has prompted the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to introduce new measures concerning the annual leave schedules for officials. According to documents reviewed by Hespress, health officials have been notified to plan their annual vacations for the summer period outside the transitional period extending from July 15 to August 31 in the specified regions.
This directive specifically targets representatives from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, hospital directors, as well as heads of network units and services in the Rabat and Laayoune regions. In a letter issued by Abdelghani Daghemir, the regional director of health and social protection for Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, it was emphasized that the regional health group would officially commence its responsibilities starting August 1st.
Daghemir underlined the critical importance of the current transitional phase, highlighting the necessary actions and measures required to ensure the effective functioning of the health group, as well as the public interest involved in ensuring that all responsible personnel are present to facilitate a successful transition.
He also indicated that management retains the full authority, as necessitated by public interest, to determine the scheduling of annual leaves, in accordance with Article 40 of the General Statute of Public Service and the Ministry's circular number 5 dated July 5, 2011, regarding annual leave.
In a similar vein, Imad Belaradi, the acting regional director of health and social protection for Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, urged all relevant parties to schedule their summer vacations outside the period from July 15 to August 31, 2026. He stressed the necessity of adhering to this procedure and making the appropriate arrangements in line with operational requirements during this crucial phase.
An official source from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection clarified that these directives specifically concern health officials in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra regions, and the decision has been made at the regional level. This initiative falls within the framework of the preparations for the official commencement of the health groups set for August 1st.
