Ten-Month Sentence for Impersonating a Security Officer in Marrakech
A recent ruling from the criminal chamber of the Marrakech court has sentenced a man in his forties to ten months in prison, alongside a fine of 500 dirhams. This decision came as a result of the individual's conviction for impersonating a law enforcement officer, unlawfully wearing a uniform, and forging an official document. The case unfolded at the beginning of August when local gendarmerie received reports about a person dressed in attire resembling that of security forces, who was inquiring about a resident of nearby villages, raising concerns among the locals.
The gendarmerie swiftly responded by going to the village of Kreni, where they apprehended the suspect. Upon questioning, the individual attempted to validate his claims of being an officer by presenting a forged identification card. Following his arrest, the authorities conducted a thorough search, during which they confiscated the uniform he had been wearing, along with handcuffs found in his possession. During the investigation, the suspect admitted to falsely posing as a security employee, exploiting the uniform and counterfeit documents to gain illegal advantages from unsuspecting citizens.
