Official Launch of the Fes Logistics Zone
On July 8, 2026, a significant milestone was reached with the official commencement of the Fes Logistics Zone construction project, located in the Moulay Yacoub region. This initiative involves a public investment amounting to approximately 275 million dirhams and was inaugurated during a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdel Samad Guhi. This project is part of the ongoing implementation of the national strategy aimed at enhancing the logistics system and bolstering the infrastructure that supports investment and economic development.
Strategic Development for Economic Growth
The Moroccan Agency for the Development of Logistics Activities is executing this project in partnership with the Fes-Meknes Regional Council over a period of 18 months. The logistics zone is expected to become operational by 2027, providing equipped real estate options that meet the needs of investors and stakeholders in the transport and logistics sector. The first phase of the project encompasses an area of nearly 32 hectares within a total land area of 100 hectares, allowing for future expansion based on demand. This zone will host modern warehouses, refrigerated storage units, as well as dedicated spaces for various transport and logistics activities.
Strategically located adjacent to the highway and in close proximity to Fes city, the logistics zone is poised to serve as a logistical hub for the Fes-Meknes region and other areas of the kingdom. Its connection to major economic axes, including Casablanca and the anticipated Nador West Med port, which is set to commence operations this year, further enhances its importance.
This infrastructure is anticipated to improve the flow of goods transport and distribution, reduce logistical costs for businesses, and support their competitiveness while facilitating access to national and international markets. Consequently, it is expected to enhance the region's attractiveness for investment and create new economic opportunities.
During the event, Ghassan El Musharafi, the General Director of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Logistics Activities, highlighted that the launch of this project marks a crucial step in expanding the national network of logistics zones. He emphasized that the initiative responds to the economic dynamics of the Fes-Meknes region and will provide approximately 400,000 square meters of equipped land for investors in the sector upon its completion. The agency plans to begin marketing the project at the start of 2027, asserting that the success of the first phase will pave the way for future expansions.
Moreover, the investment charter currently offers significant incentives for logistics sector projects, allowing projects exceeding 50 million dirhams, along with small and medium enterprises, to benefit from investment grants ranging from 10 to 20 percent of the investment value. In a related statement, Abdel Wahid Anasari, President of the Fes-Meknes Regional Council, indicated that the new logistics zone is part of essential projects aimed at enhancing territorial development and increasing regional competitiveness. He noted that it will contribute to improving the storage and distribution processes of goods while strengthening the region's connections to major ports and economic axes, thereby opening broader horizons for investment and development.
This project's launch coincides with the announcement by the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Logistics Activities that it has surpassed 500 hectares of logistics zones under development, reflecting progress that exceeds the targets set for 2028 as part of a national strategy to establish a modern network of logistics platforms and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
