Under the directive of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Hassan presided over the inauguration of the "Mohammed VI Tower" on the right bank of the Bouregreg River this Monday. This architectural icon represents modernity and embodies the emergence and radiance of the twin cities of Rabat and Salé under the esteemed leadership of His Majesty the King.
During this significant event, His Royal Highness toured various components of the tower, particularly the main hall, where he observed presentations about this monumental structure, including models of traditional Moroccan materials used in its construction, the space designated for conferences, and the library.
Crown Prince Moulay Hassan also visited a model apartment, the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotel, as well as the Rabat and Salé Heritage Observatory located at the top of the tower. The observatory offers an exceptional panoramic view of both cities, showcasing the ancient walls, kasbahs, and gates that narrate the rich history of these twin cities.
The new tower, which stands at a height of 250 meters (55 floors), has become the tallest landmark in Rabat, combining advanced engineering and elegant design while adhering to the highest environmental standards. This project aligns perfectly with the objectives of the Bouregreg waterfront development, a crucial component of the integrated program for the development of the city of Rabat, aptly named "Rabat, City of Lights, Capital of Moroccan Culture," launched under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King.
The project, executed by O Capital Group, includes a luxury hotel, offices, residential units, the Rabat and Salé Heritage Observatory, a conference hall, shops, and restaurants, all interconnected by 36 elevators. The tower is built on foundations that reach a depth of 60 meters, designed to withstand earthquakes and river floods, ensuring long-term stability in a complex geotechnical environment.
To counteract movements caused by wind and seismic vibrations, this architectural icon is also equipped with an innovative damping system that provides comfort and stability for residents on the upper floors. Furthermore, the new tower, featuring two facades—one with dynamic lighting and the other fitted with photovoltaic panels—incorporates best practices in environmentally friendly construction and next-generation technologies, enhancing energy efficiency in line with Morocco's commitments to sustainable development.
In addition to energy efficiency, the "Mohammed VI Tower" boasts advanced systems for energy recovery and rainwater harvesting. These features have enabled the new tower to attain "LEED Gold" and "HQE" certifications, placing this structure among the most innovative and high-performing achievements on the African continent.
Upon his arrival at the "Mohammed VI Tower," His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Hassan was greeted by a contingent of the Royal Guard, before proceeding to greet various dignitaries, including Mr. Mohamed El Yaacoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Mr. Rashid Al-Abdi, President of the Regional Council, Mr. Omar Touimi, Governor of Salé, Mr. Nour Eddine Al-Azraq, President of the Salé Provincial Council, and Mr. Omar Santi, President of the Salé Municipal Council.
Others who came to greet His Royal Highness included Mr. Othman Benjelloun, President and CEO of O Capital Group, Ms. Dounia Benjelloun, a board member of the group, Mr. Zakaria Al-Qaydi from the Bouregreg River Development Agency, and Mr. Jamal Benissa from the Bouregreg Lands Company.
