Indonesian National Arrested in Marrakech Amid International Corruption Investigation

On Tuesday, police in Marrakech successfully apprehended a 63-year-old Indonesian citizen who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in Indonesia. This significant operation was carried out in collaboration with the National Police Brigade and local security services, following precise information provided by the International Criminal Police Organization, known as Interpol. The suspect had been listed in the Interpol Red Notice at the request of the National Central Bureau in Jakarta.

The international pursuit of this individual stems from allegations by Indonesian authorities regarding his involvement in extensive financial corruption and manipulation within Indonesia's capital markets. Upon locating and detaining him in Marrakech, the suspect was placed under extradition measures in accordance with the instructions of the competent public prosecutor's office, ensuring that the legal procedures applicable in cases related to transnational crime were duly followed.

The Interpol office in Rabat, which operates under the General Directorate of National Security, promptly notified its counterpart in Indonesia about the arrest to initiate the necessary arrangements for extraditing the wanted individual. This operation reflects Morocco's ongoing efforts to enhance international security cooperation and activate mechanisms for prosecuting individuals sought globally for financial and economic crimes.
