International Conference in Marrakech Addresses Future Challenges in Counter-Terrorism

Insights from the International Conference on Post-ISIS Challenges

On Friday, the foundation "Mouminoon Bil Hudood for Studies and Research" hosted an international conference in Marrakech, Morocco, entitled "Post-ISIS: Future Challenges in Combating Extremism and Violent Radicalism." The event brought together a distinguished group of academics, experts, and researchers from Europe, all of whom are dedicated to the study of extremism and its impacts on global security. This gathering aimed to address the pressing issues that arise in the aftermath of the ISIS phenomenon, focusing on innovative strategies and collaborative approaches for countering radical ideologies.

According to reports from Al-Ghad correspondent Ikram Al-Azraq, the discussions at the conference highlighted the necessity for international cooperation in developing effective counter-terrorism frameworks and the importance of understanding the root causes of extremism to prevent future threats. The participation of leading scholars and policymakers underscored the critical need for a multidimensional response to the challenges posed by extremist movements in various regions of the world.

Broader Context of Violence and Conflict

In a separate yet related context, Al-Ghad reported that Israeli special units raided a hospital in Nablus, apprehending an individual wounded in an airstrike that targeted a vehicle in Tubas. These developments are part of the ongoing violence that has seen at least 17 Palestinians, including five children, killed during an Israeli airstrike that struck tents housing displaced individuals in the Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. Furthermore, reports indicate that 11 individuals lost their lives due to Israeli bombardments affecting several towns in southern Lebanon, illustrating the widespread nature of conflict in the region.

The situation remains tense, with ongoing incidents of violence and loss of life. A tragic event was recorded today when three women were killed outside a bakery in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, further highlighting the humanitarian crisis faced by civilians caught in the crossfire of ongoing hostilities.
