Their visits encompassed polling stations located in neighborhoods such as Bab al-Futuh, Bensouda, and Monflouri, as well as in the historic city center and the community of Ouled Tayeb. Head of the delegation, Khadija Kamraoui, reported that by midday on Wednesday, they had visited six schools that housed nearly thirty polling stations, emphasizing that the voting process unfolded under normal conditions.
Furthermore, the observers noted the active presence of representatives from different political parties in the polling stations they inspected, including those from both the ruling majority and the opposition. This presence was highlighted as significant for monitoring and observing the electoral process. Anna Frédérique Amou, a French elected official and member of the delegation, explained that the monitoring mission relies on a unified technical framework to track various stages of the elections and record field observations. This framework specifically emphasizes the presence of the legal members of the polling stations, including the president, vice president, secretary, and other members, as well as the availability of electoral documents such as official minutes, ballots, and ballot boxes.
The observers also paid special attention to the procedures for closing and securing ballot boxes, as well as the use of indelible ink after voting, a measure aimed at preventing double voting. According to Amou, adherence to these procedures was regularly observed at the polling centers visited, with no technical or security incidents reported during the delegation's rounds. This electoral observation mission in Fes is part of a broader national initiative coordinated by the aforementioned association.
By midday Wednesday, the observation teams deployed across various regions of the kingdom had conducted monitoring visits to 96 schools, encompassing approximately 890 polling centers, particularly in the regions of Tangier, Salé, Khouribga, Safi, Guelmim, and Laayoune. The observers will continue their duties even after the polling stations close and until the counting of votes is complete, with the observations compiled into a technical evaluation report to be formally presented to the presidency of the National Human Rights Council during the announcement of the electoral observation missions' results.
