Investigation into Poisoning Case Involving Engineer, Technicians, and a Student Continues

Ongoing Investigation into Poisoning Incident in Fez

The Chamber of First Instance at the Court of Appeal in Fez has decided to postpone the trial involving four defendants, including an engineer, two technicians, and a student, who are facing charges related to poisoning. This decision was made during a session held on Thursday, based on the referral order issued by Judge Rachid Oussguer of the third chamber of the same court. According to sources from Kood, the case will be taken up again on April 9, where the court will summon witnesses alongside their attorney, Hassan Shrou, from the Fez Bar Association.

Details of the Case

The events leading to this case began when two individuals filed a formal complaint, asserting that they experienced symptoms consistent with poisoning after consuming a drink referred to as "Atay" during a picnic at the "Ifer" site near Sefrou. They were subsequently hospitalized, where one of them received medical treatment and a certificate confirming a 30-day recovery period due to their condition.

During the preliminary investigation, law enforcement and the investigating judge interviewed the accused and witnesses. The defendants denied the allegations against them, stating that they had consumed the same food and beverages during the picnic. Following the completion of the preliminary investigation and listening to all parties involved, the investigating judge decided to charge the four individuals with poisoning and refer them to the Chamber of First Instance at the Court of Appeal in Fez for legal proceedings. Notably, the accused are related to the plaintiffs in this case.

Previously, on February 5, the Chamber of First Instance had ordered the initiation of absentee proceedings against all defendants who failed to appear. This case was first scheduled to be heard on December 18, 2025.
