The Regional Judicial Police Department in Marrakech initiated a judicial investigation on the evening of Wednesday, May 6, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office. This investigation aims to ascertain the criminal actions attributed to a police officer working in the Al-Mohammedia security district, who is suspected of involvement in a bribery case involving the solicitation of a bribe in exchange for refraining from performing his official duties.
According to preliminary findings from the investigation, the suspect was caught red-handed in possession of a sum of money that he received outside of his working hours from an individual who was involved in a penal case, which was intended as a bribe.
The suspect is currently subjected to judicial scrutiny as ordered by the relevant public prosecutor, with the objective of uncovering all circumstances and details surrounding the case, as well as identifying any connections and backgrounds related to the incident.
On the administrative side, the General Directorate of National Security announced that it will await the conclusion of the ongoing judicial investigation before taking the necessary disciplinary actions against the individual involved, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the statutory framework governing national security personnel.
