Investigation Launched in Marrakech Over Alleged Rape Involving Police Officer
On the evening of Monday, September 28, 2026, the Judicial Police Department in Marrakech initiated a criminal investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office involving a police officer with the rank of "Moqaddem" (a non-commissioned officer). This action comes amid suspicions regarding the officer's involvement in a serious case of alleged rape. The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by a woman who reported that she had been sexually assaulted by someone claiming to be a police officer. Reports indicate that the incident occurred after the woman was found in the company of another individual, leading to an immediate inquiry that resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspected officer.
The security services have placed the detained officer under provisional custody to facilitate further investigation, which is being conducted by the relevant public prosecutor's office.
