Investment for the Protection of Cultural Heritage
The Moroccan Ministry of Culture, through its Marrakech-Safi regional branch, is actively seeking a service provider to ensure the security, surveillance, and guarding of administrative buildings and historical monuments under the provincial management of Essaouira and the regional management of Marrakech-Safi. This initiative aims to bolster the protection of approximately fifteen sites that encompass both administrative structures and significant historical landmarks across these two culturally rich cities.
Scope of Security Measures and Financial Commitment
Among the notable sites requiring security in Marrakech are the M'Hamid Media Library, the Music Conservatory, and the revenue management office located at the Bahia Palace. In Essaouira, key historical sites such as the Bab Marrakech Gallery, the medina and port sqalas, the Bayt Dakira Center, Borj Baab Doukkala, the Cité Heureuse, and the Museum of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah will also benefit from enhanced security measures.
The security provision will be managed by a team of 64 agents and hostesses, who will operate in three rotating shifts, ensuring coverage 24/7 throughout the week. The selected service provider will be required to uphold social commitments to its employees, including paying wages at least equivalent to the national minimum wage, granting legal leave, providing social and medical coverage, and supplying work attire suitable for both summer and winter conditions.
This security contract is estimated to be worth over 5.6 million dirhams for a period of one year, with the potential for automatic renewal, capped at a maximum of three years, depending on the ongoing needs for safeguarding these invaluable cultural assets.
