Ismael Saibari Joins Bayern Munich: A New Chapter Begins

On Friday afternoon, Bayern Munich officially presented their latest signing, Ismael Saibari, a 25-year-old forward who joined the club for a transfer fee of €50 million from PSV Eindhoven. Saibari is known for his versatility on the pitch, capable of playing in various attacking roles, whether in offensive midfield, on the wings, or as a striker. However, he expressed a clear preference for the number 10 position, stating, "My favorite position is as a number 10; everyone knows that." This declaration sets the stage for an exciting competition among established players like Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry, as they vie for their positions in the squad.

Saibari's journey to Bayern has not been without its challenges. As a child, he faced significant hurdles due to a severe foot deformity that required considerable sacrifices from his parents to enable him to walk and lead a normal life. Reflecting on this during his introduction, he remarked, "When I was born, I had issues with my feet. My parents made many sacrifices so that I could walk and live a normal life. As a Muslim, I believe in God, and that was all part of His deeds."

Thanks to a corrective device, Saibari was given the opportunity to pursue his dreams in football. However, his rise to professional status was anything but straightforward. At the age of 14, he was released from the youth academy of RSC Anderlecht, but his talent shone through as he moved through the ranks at Genk before eventually finding his way to PSV Eindhoven. There, he achieved a breakthrough into professional football in the summer of 2022. After four years in the Netherlands, he is now eager to showcase his skills at Bayern Munich.

Saibari wears the number 34 in honor of his friend Nouri, who suffered a severe brain injury. He expressed his excitement about joining one of the world's biggest clubs, stating, "It is one of the greatest clubs in the world. Their style of play suits me. They have given me the trust to develop as a player and as a person here." In addition to his footballing prowess, Saibari is also multilingual, speaking five languages: English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Dutch. Now, he aims to learn a sixth language: German. He commented, "In six months, I hope to be able to speak German as well. I enjoy languages and the various cultures they represent."

As for whether he will make his debut in the upcoming friendly match against RB Leipzig on Saturday, Saibari remained uncertain, stating, "I still need to speak with the medical department. I don’t know yet today."
