Israel and Morocco Elevate Diplomatic Relations

In a significant diplomatic development, Israel and Morocco have announced plans to elevate their diplomatic representations to the level of embassies. The two countries also agreed on economic collaboration, with plans to finalize agreements on investment protection and the prevention of double taxation by the end of 2026. These measures aim to facilitate mutual investments and expand economic exchanges between Israel and Morocco.

Enhanced Air Travel and Future Engagements

In addition to diplomatic advancements, direct flight connections between Morocco and Israel are set to commence in the coming weeks, marking a renewed commitment to enhancing travel and connectivity between the two nations. This development follows a three-year hiatus in direct flights, which underscores the growing ties and mutual interest in fostering closer relations.

Furthermore, both countries have agreed to organize reciprocal visits of high-ranking officials in the upcoming months, further cementing their diplomatic relationship. Israel expressed gratitude to the United States for its pivotal role in facilitating this meeting and contributing to the strengthening of Israel-Morocco ties. This summit took place shortly after a reception hosted by Mike Waltz to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Abraham Accords, attended by representatives from the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Israel, and the United States.

“The friendship between the Moroccan people and the Jewish people is deeply rooted and has a glorious history,” stated Gideon Sa'ar. “The declaration we signed today outlines concrete measures to enhance relations between Israel and Morocco for the benefit of both peoples, and we will work diligently towards its implementation.”
