Israeli Defense Minister Confirms Death of Key Iranian Officials in Airstrikes

Significant Strike Against Iranian Leadership

On Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the death of Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, along with Quds Force commander Gholam Reza Soleimani. These casualties resulted from airstrikes carried out by the Israeli Air Force on Monday evening. In a recorded statement, Katz revealed that the Chief of Staff had informed him of the successful operation targeting these prominent figures, further describing the Basij forces as the "central repressive apparatus in Iran." Despite the announcement, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding these developments.

Iran's Response to Regional Tensions

In a related context, Larijani had earlier stated that Iran had received minimal support from Islamic nations in what he described as the "American-Israeli war" against his country, except for some limited political stances. In a message directed at Muslim peoples and governments, he asserted that Iran had managed to "confuse the enemy and push it into a strategic deadlock," criticizing the positions of certain countries that have viewed Tehran as an adversary due to its targeting of American and Israeli interests. Larijani questioned the stance of these nations concerning the use of military bases on their territories to launch attacks against Iran, deeming their justifications as "unconvincing" and highlighting a perceived contradiction with Islamic values. He emphasized that Iran would continue its so-called "resistance approach" in confronting the United States and Israel, reaffirming that the country faced a "sudden aggression" during negotiations with Washington, aimed at undermining its strength.
