Italian Skeet Team Departure for ISSF World Cup in Morocco

The Italian Skeet Team is gearing up for the kickoff of the international competition season as they prepare to depart for Tangier, Morocco. This event marks the official opening of the ISSF competition calendar, announced by Technical Director Luigi Lodde. From March 26 to April 2, the Moroccan port city, strategically located near the Strait of Gibraltar, will host the first ISSF World Cup in Trap and Skeet shooting. A total of 271 athletes from 43 nations are set to compete at the Club Tangérois de Tir.

The competition will commence with the Skeet specialists, representing Italy are a strong lineup, including Gabriele Rossetti (Fiamme Oro) from Ponte Buggianese (PT), Domenico Simeone (Fiamme Oro) from Baia e Latina (CE), and Erik Pittini (Fiamme Oro) from Sutrio (UD) for the men's team. The women's team features Sara Bongini (Fiamme Oro) from Impruneta (FI), Diana Bacosi (Esercito) from Cetona (SI), and Simona Scocchetti (Esercito) from Tarquinia (VT). Additionally, Valerio Palmucci (Fiamme Oro) from Fiano Romano (RM) and Chiara Di Marziantonio (Esercito) from Cerenova (RM) will also travel to Morocco, competing solely for points in the international ISSF rankings.

Competition Schedule and Training

Leading up to the competition, our athletes will have the opportunity for free training with the launch machines until Wednesday. The official training sessions are scheduled for Thursday, March 26. The competition will begin on Friday, March 27, where the athletes will shoot the first 75 qualifying targets, followed by the final round on Saturday, March 28, starting at 4:00 PM, which will feature the remaining 50 targets. The Olympic Trap team, directed by Technical Director Marco Conti, will depart from Italy on Saturday, March 28. The Umbria-based coach will be accompanied by Erminio Frasca (Fiamme Oro) from Priverno (LT), Fabio Sollami from Caltanissetta (CL), and Daniele Resca (Carabinieri) from Pieve di Cento (BO) for the men's team, as well as Alessia Iezzi (Carabinieri) from Manoppello (PE), Jessica Rossi (Fiamme Oro) from Crevalcore (BO), and Erica Sessa (Fiamme Oro) from Cava de' Tirreni (SA) for the women's team. Emanuele Iezzi from Manoppello (PE) and Valentina Panza (Carabinieri) from Rose (CS) will also participate solely to earn ISSF ranking points.
