Jet Contractors Secures Contract for Hassan II Grand Stadium Station on Kenitra-Marrakech High-Speed Line

Jet Contractors to Build Hassan II Grand Stadium Station

The ambitious high-speed rail project connecting Kenitra and Marrakech is progressing rapidly with the recent award of a significant construction contract. The National Railways Office (ONCF) has selected Jet Contractors, a Moroccan company, to oversee the construction of the Hassan II Grand Stadium station, situated in the Benslimane prefecture. This contract amounts to over 415 million dirhams, marking a notable victory for local contractors in a competitive bidding process.

In total, seven companies submitted their bids for this project, including prominent firms such as Travaux Généraux de Construction de Casablanca (TGCC) and the EMB/Somachame consortium. After a thorough evaluation of technical proposals, the China Overseas Engineering Group/China Railway 5 consortium was disqualified, allowing Jet Contractors to emerge as the lowest compliant bidder, presenting a proposal that was nearly 70 million dirhams less than the highest bid received.

Strategic Location and Comprehensive Services

The Hassan II Grand Stadium station is strategically positioned adjacent to the upcoming Grand Stadium, which is slated to play a pivotal role during the 2030 World Cup co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. This prime location underscores the station's importance in managing the influx of passengers during major sporting events while also providing daily service for the high-speed rail line.

Jet Contractors will be responsible for a comprehensive range of construction activities. This includes everything from the foundational earthworks to the structural shell, waterproofing, steel framework, and roofing, as well as electrical installations, air conditioning, plumbing, and landscaping. The project is designed to adopt a turnkey approach, ensuring that the station is fully operational and equipped to handle the expected passenger volume.

The Hassan II Grand Stadium station is just one component of a broader initiative, with the ONCF simultaneously launching the construction of multiple stations and maintenance facilities across nine distinct lots. This extensive program is designed to facilitate efficient connectivity between various World Cup host cities and the Tanger Med port, enhancing the overall travel experience for fans and visitors.

Jet Contractors, known for its expertise in railway construction, has a solid history with ONCF, previously securing a large-scale civil engineering project valued at 2 billion dirhams for the same high-speed line. With the ongoing collaboration, the construction of the reception infrastructure is now entering a critical operational phase, less than four years away from the World Cup kickoff.
