Core Responsibilities of the Junior Valuation Engineer

As a member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in various responsibilities that are crucial for the valuation process. Your duties will include conducting comprehensive studies that encompass analysis, documentation, and presentations in committee settings, focusing on the diverse topics that influence valuation such as software releases, system changes, model adjustments, and methodological changes. Additionally, you will engage in the development of valuation adjustment methodologies aimed at estimating the fair value of financial products, which includes Day One reserves, Independent Price Verification (IPV), Risk Premium Adjustments (RP), and Prudential Valuation Adjustments (PVA). This collaboration will be in partnership with the Front Office to ensure accuracy and relevance in valuation practices.

Implementing and analyzing these valuation adjustments will be key to estimating the exit cost of positions, which directly impact both the economic and accounting Profit & Loss statements. Furthermore, you will be responsible for calculating and analyzing prudential valuation adjustments that affect the bank's regulatory capital. Contributing to the industrialization of calculation libraries within the Valuation Group, utilizing programming languages such as C# and Python, will enhance the robustness and efficiency of our processes. Your role will also involve designing, developing, and improving analytical and reporting tools, along with supporting the Front Office and partner teams (such as Risk and Finance) in understanding and integrating valuation adjustment calculations into the Profit & Loss framework. Responding to inquiries from auditors and regulators will also form part of your responsibilities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a solid understanding of financial market environments, particularly in Fixed Income products (including Rates, Credit, FX, Inflation, Bonds, and Exotics) or Equity. A firm grasp of financial product valuation techniques and risk metrics pertinent to structured products is essential. You should demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork, responsibility, and commitment to your work. Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python, C#, and VBA, is expected.

Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach will be vital for success in this position. You should also be capable of effective communication and exhibit adaptability in your work style. Your professional engagement, combined with your leadership and teamwork abilities, will significantly contribute to your effectiveness in this role.
