Major Drug Bust in Taroudant
On April 25, 2026, law enforcement authorities in Taroudant successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in drug trafficking, resulting in the seizure of more than 700 kilograms of illegal substances. This operation was carried out by the judicial police in close coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). The swift and well-planned action led to the arrest of two suspects believed to be key players in this illicit operation.
The operation took place in a forested area of the "Hawasha" locality in Taroudant province, following precise intelligence provided by DGST. Through meticulous search and combing operations, authorities uncovered a significant stash of narcotics hidden in a nearby ravine. The authorities confiscated 17 bundles of cannabis, weighing approximately 667 kilograms, along with an additional 116 kilograms of tobacco leaves, which were suspected to be intended for widespread distribution as part of an organized drug trafficking ring.
The arrested individuals are currently under provisional detention as investigations continue under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office. The ongoing inquiry aims to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this case, identify potential extensions of the criminal network, and ascertain the identities of other possible collaborators involved in this drug trafficking operation.
This successful operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Moroccan security services, in collaboration with the DGST, to combat illegal drug trade and dismantle its sources, thereby enhancing security and stability within the region.
