In a significant development, Younes Essassi, the CEO and founder of Anfa Realties Group, has been officially appointed as the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan, with a focus on Marrakech. His primary responsibility will be to advocate for the rights of Kazakh citizens residing in or visiting the region. Furthermore, he aims to foster closer ties among the economic, institutional, cultural, and tourism sectors of both nations, thereby enhancing cooperative efforts.
The Kazakh Ambassador, Sailaukyzy, emphasized that this consulate opening marks a crucial step in bolstering Kazakhstan's consular presence in Morocco. She elaborated that this local consulate will serve as a catalyst for establishing connections with the local economic fabric, supporting bilateral cooperation initiatives, and facilitating the emergence of new investment opportunities between Kazakhstan and Morocco.
Ambassador Sailaukyzy also recalled that the diplomatic relations between Morocco and Kazakhstan, which were established on May 26, 1992, have reached several significant milestones in recent years. These include the inauguration of the Kazakh embassy in Rabat in December 2020, the implementation of a reciprocal visa exemption regime starting in March 2025 for stays of up to thirty days, and the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Morocco Business Council. She highlighted the strategic choice of Marrakech as the consulate's location, noting that it serves as a hub for tourist, cultural, and commercial flows while enjoying substantial international visibility.
Younes Essassi expressed his pride in taking on this role, reiterating his commitment to leverage his entrepreneurial experience and knowledge of the Moroccan economic landscape to promote closer relations between the two nations. The honorary consulate will be housed within the Les Villas d'Anfa Marrakech project, which is the first initiative by Anfa Realties Group in the iconic city.
