Kazakhstan Establishes Honorary Consulate in Marrakech
The recent inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Marrakech signifies a pivotal development in the diplomatic ties between Kazakhstan and Morocco. Essassi’s duties extend beyond mere representation; he is also tasked with fostering closer collaboration across various sectors including economic, institutional, cultural, and tourism initiatives between Kazakhstan and Morocco. Ambassador Sailaukyzy highlighted the establishment of the honorary consulate as a crucial step in augmenting Kazakhstan's consular presence within Morocco. The local representation is anticipated to facilitate deeper bilateral relations and bolster cooperative endeavors, thereby benefiting both countries.
The historical connections between Kazakhstan and Morocco date back to the formalization of diplomatic relations on May 26, 1992. Noteworthy milestones in this relationship include the opening of Kazakhstan’s embassy in Rabat in December 2020, the planned introduction of a mutual visa-exemption program in March 2025 for visits up to 30 days, and the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Morocco business council. The honorary consulate is strategically located in Les Villas d’Anfa Marrakech, marking Anfa Realties Group’s first real estate project in the city.
