Morocco's Air Traffic Surge: Insights from April 2026
The ongoing recovery in tourism and increasing interest in Moroccan destinations, particularly Marrakech, have significantly propelled Moroccan-French air travel, marking a notable trend in the early months of 2026. According to the latest data from the National Airports Office, Marrakech Menara Airport welcomed over one million passengers in April alone, reflecting an impressive 8.42% rise compared to the same month last year. This remarkable performance highlights Marrakech's status as one of the busiest airports in Morocco.
In April, the total number of passengers passing through Marrakech Menara Airport reached 1,016,169, while the cumulative total for the first four months of the year surpassed 3.8 million travelers, up from 3.43 million during the corresponding period in 2025. This growth can be attributed primarily to international flights, which attracted 961,408 passengers in April. Meanwhile, domestic flights also experienced a robust increase of 20.3%, serving 54,761 travelers.
Leading the list of the most active international routes during April was the flight connecting Marrakech and Paris Orly, which transported 78,229 passengers. This was followed closely by the Casablanca - Paris Orly route, which recorded 73,481 travelers. Additionally, the Marrakech - Paris Charles de Gaulle and Casablanca - Paris Charles de Gaulle routes secured the third and fourth positions respectively, catering to 60,667 and 52,158 passengers. Notably, the Marrakech - London Gatwick route ranked fifth with 48,233 travelers.
These statistics underscore the continued dominance of the French market as the primary source of air traffic to Morocco, serving purposes ranging from tourism to professional travel and visits by members of the Moroccan community residing in France.
